On-screen indicators: Follow relative file position alongside the device’s audible feedback.

Understanding the readings: display numbers and indicator bars represent relative file position; they are not a direct measurement of canal length in millimetres. Interpret readings clinically and confirm working length in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

FindPex FAQ

Does FindPex measure canal length in millimetres?

No. The display shows relative file position rather than a direct length measurement in millimetres. Working-length determination requires clinical interpretation and appropriate confirmation in accordance with the manual.

Can I adjust the apex reference point?

Yes. FindPex offers reference settings from 00 to 07. The manual states that 00 coincides with the apical foramen. These settings are not millimetre offsets or prescribed clinical endpoints; the treating clinician must choose and interpret the reference appropriately.

Can I customise the screen and sound?

Yes. Select a light or dark theme, adjust brightness, choose Low, Medium or High sensitivity, and configure volume and reference-point sound options through the device menu.

Can I use FindPex while it is charging?

No. The manufacturer instructs you not to use the device while charging. Use the original specified adapter. A full charge takes approximately 4–5 hours depending on remaining charge and battery condition.

Does FindPex require computer software?

The supplied manual describes standalone operation without computer software installation. The device still requires correct assembly, preparation and function checks before clinical use.

Which parts must be sterilised?

The file clip, lip hook and touch probe must be cleaned, disinfected and sterilised before each use, including first use, following Section 7 of the manual. Do not autoclave the main unit, base, measuring wire, tester or adapter. Follow the component-specific reprocessing instructions.

How do I check that the device is functioning?

Follow the short-circuit check before each use described in Section 6.2. The manufacturer also recommends a tester check once a week; the expected tester indication is 02, 03 or 04. If the expected result is not obtained after checking the connections, stop using the device and contact your dealer.

Can I replace the accessories?

Contact CanDent Group for the correct original FindPex components. The manual requires original specified parts; do not assume accessories from another apex locator are compatible.

Are there important contraindications or limitations?

The manual contraindicates use on patients with a pacemaker or in conjunction with an electric scalpel, and states that blocked canals cannot be accurately measured. Review all warnings, contraindications and unsuitable measurement conditions before clinical use.
