Clinical workflow

Step-by-step clinical workflow

Follow the clinical sequence below together with the current manufacturer instructions for use and your established endodontic protocol.

0 1 Create access and identify the canal Establish clear access before introducing the C-File.

Establish straight-line access and clearly identify the canal orifice. Remove restrictive coronal interference when appropriate while preserving tooth structure. Maintain irrigation and lubrication throughout canal negotiation.

0 2 Start with the smallest appropriate size Use the smallest C-File that can enter the canal conservatively.

For narrow, calcified or constricted canals, begin with an appropriate small size such as ISO 06 or ISO 08. Advance gently without excessive apical pressure. Pre-curve the instrument when required by the canal anatomy.

0 3 Negotiate with short controlled movements Use gentle manual movement to progressively negotiate the canal.

Use short, controlled watch-winding movements with gentle lifting as the file advances. Keep the movement small and deliberate. Withdraw the instrument regularly to clean and inspect it before continuing.

0 4 Progress sequentially through the sizes Advance gradually through the C-File sequence as the canal allows.

Progress through the sequence 06 → 08 → 10 → 12 → 15 as clinically appropriate. Avoid skipping sizes in narrow or resistant canals. Irrigate, clean the instrument and refresh lubricant between passes as needed.

0 5 Confirm a reproducible glide path Ensure the negotiated pathway is smooth and repeatable before further enlargement or shaping.

Confirm that the canal can be negotiated smoothly and reproducibly to the intended working length. Reconfirm working length when clinically indicated. Continue with the appropriate hand-file or mechanical glide-path and shaping sequence according to the treatment plan.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions

Quick answers about product selection, sizes, clinical use and handling.

When should I use a C-File instead of a K-File?

NIC® SS C Files are intended primarily for negotiation and penetration of narrow, calcified or difficult canals. Once a smooth and reproducible pathway has been established, further manual enlargement may continue with appropriate K-Files or another selected glide-path and shaping protocol.

Why is an ISO 12 C-File available?

ISO 12 provides an intermediate progression between ISO 10 and ISO 15. In narrow or resistant canals, this smaller transition can support more gradual manual negotiation.

What motion should be used with NIC® SS C Files?

Use short, controlled manual watch-winding movements with gentle lifting as clinically appropriate. Avoid excessive rotation, aggressive apical pressure or forcing the instrument when resistance is encountered.

What sizes and lengths are available for C-Files?

NIC® SS C Files are available in ISO sizes 06, 08, 10, 12 and 15, with 21 mm, 25 mm and 28 mm lengths.

Are NIC® SS C Files supplied sterile?

Yes. NIC® SS C Files supplied by CanDent Group are sterile and ready for clinical use when the sterile barrier is intact. Always verify the package and product label before use.

Can NIC® SS C Files be used in an endodontic motor?

No. NIC® SS C Files are manual hand instruments and should not be mounted in a rotary or reciprocating handpiece.

Can NIC® SS C Files be reused?

No. The sterile NIC® SS C Files supplied by CanDent Group are intended for single use. Dispose of used instruments according to applicable clinical sharps and biohazard procedures.
