NIC® W+ Tunnel Reciprocating Files are sterile, gold heat-treated NiTi endodontic instruments designed for mechanical glide-path preparation before root canal shaping. Featuring a 15/.02 size, constant .02 taper, parallelogram cross-section, and MaxTech™ 3.0 gold heat-treated NiTi, they operate in reciprocating motion and are available in 21 mm, 25 mm, and 31 mm lengths. Supplied sterile in packs of 6 for single clinical use.

Prepare straight-line access and negotiate the canal with a size #10 stainless-steel hand file. Determine working length and confirm a smooth, reproducible manual glide path before introducing W+ Tunnel. Irrigate the canal before mechanical glide-path expansion.

0 2 Expand the glide path with W+ Tunnel 15/.02 · reciprocating · gentle inward pressure

Introduce W+ Tunnel 15/.02 in the recommended reciprocating program. Use gentle inward pressure with short, controlled pecking movements and allow the instrument to progress passively through the secured canal pathway. Remove the file periodically to clean and inspect the flutes and irrigate the canal.

0 3 Reach full working length Controlled passes · irrigation · recapitulation

Continue with W+ Tunnel in one or more controlled passes until full working length is reached. Between passes, clean and inspect the instrument, irrigate the canal and recapitulate with a size #10 K-file as needed to maintain the established pathway.

0 4 Reconfirm and proceed to shaping Reconfirm working length · irrigate · W+ shaping

After W+ Tunnel has reached working length, irrigate the canal, recapitulate with a size #10 K-file and reconfirm working length. Once the glide path is established and expanded, proceed with the appropriate NIC® W+ shaping protocol.

NIC® W+ Tunnel files are supplied sterile and ready for clinical use while the sterile barrier remains intact. No pre-use sterilization is required. Do not use the product if the package is damaged, opened, wet or otherwise compromised. Do not re-sterilize. W+ Tunnel files are intended for single clinical use only. After clinical use, discard the instrument. Do not clean, disinfect, sterilize, re-sterilize or reuse the file.

  • For professional dental use only.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment and rubber dam isolation.
  • Do not use if the sterile package is damaged, opened, wet or otherwise compromised.
  • Do not use in patients with a known allergy or sensitivity to nickel-titanium or other device components.
  • Establish a smooth, reproducible manual glide path before introducing W+ Tunnel.
  • Use NIC® W+ Tunnel in reciprocating motion only. Do not use continuous rotary motion.
  • Use the recommended W+ / WaveOne® Gold-compatible reciprocating motor program. Where custom angles are required, use 150° CCW cutting and 30° CW release.
  • Use gentle inward pressure with short, controlled movements and allow the instrument to progress passively through the established canal pathway.
  • Do not force W+ Tunnel apically. If the instrument does not progress easily, withdraw it, clean the flutes, irrigate, recapitulate and reassess before continuing.
  • Irrigate frequently and recapitulate with a small hand file as needed to maintain the established pathway.
  • Exercise additional caution in canals with abrupt curvature, recurvature, canal division or other complex anatomy where safe passive progression cannot be achieved.
  • Clean and inspect the flutes regularly during use for deformation, unwinding, wear, corrosion or other signs of damage.
  • Do not fully immerse the instrument in sodium hypochlorite solution.
  • A slight curvature caused by heat treatment is not necessarily a defect. Do not forcefully straighten the instrument before use.
  • Single clinical use only. Do not clean, disinfect, sterilize, re-sterilize or reuse after clinical use.
  • Dispose of used instruments in an appropriate biohazard sharps container.
  • Store in the original packaging in a clean, dry environment away from direct sunlight, excessive heat and humidity. Do not use after the stated expiry date.
